Learning my way around

This picture is of Engedi, Its the picture on my IM.
The mountains remind me of Las Vegas, my wife and I lived there for about 4 yrs. We moved there right after we were married, kind of bitter-sweet memories. It was an exciting time because we were so far from home, I was in the service and meeting so many new people from different places. It was also a rocky time in our marriage, she was way more mature than I was (and still is). I was soaking in the partying (and beer) while she was ready to just be married. I sometimes think that if it wasn't for us being so far from home, she would have left me back then. Its funny how things change as you get older, I get sick now when I think of her ever being out of my life. I tell her now if she left me to pack my bags too 'cause I'm going with you. There's a song from the Isaac's called God Sent an Angel, when I sing it I think of her. I'm convinced she is an angel to keep me right and push me on. (lucky her!)

Book Update

I finished 1776 last week, it was good, but I didn't enjoy it as well as John Adams. David M is a great writer though, I like history and he has a good way of bringing it to life. Now I've started "The Kingdom of God is Within You" by Leo Tolstoy, its one of those books that takes me a while because I have to stop and re-read some things and it requires a lot of thought. I haven't read anything else from him but hope to someday. I hope to make it through it though, because I like C.S. Lewis (probobly my favorite writer at the moment) and he is not a Pacifist. I guess I'm not not one either since I dont object to war. I finished Leviticus this morning, I started reading the Bible through again this year, I skipped last year and missed having it as a structured part of my day. I love the Word of God. This year the plan is reading the Old Testament and the New at the same time. I like reading through that way as opposed to cover to cover, it feels more balanced. Reading it 1st thing in the morning is important to me, I've realized that my day doesnt feel right if I dont start it with God. I'm praying currently for some direction in my walk, my wife mentioned the other day that we needed a youth minister in our church, I dont know if when she mentioned this that God was putting a bug in my ear or if was just a suggestion on her part. These are some of the things that I am dealing with at the present time.

1st time

I'm not sure why I'm starting this blog, I've wanted to for a while but I am somewhat of a procrastinater. I've been reading blogs for over a year and enjoy reading them. I found out about them by reading the message boards on the Third Day site. Someone posted a blog address for Mark Lee, I went there and it felt like I had discoverd a whole new civilization.
I'm a truck dispatcher in a family business, so almost all of my work is done with a computer and a phone. The only downfall is that I cant leave the office from 6am to 5pm. The plus is that I have time to web surf a lot, and I have time to read the Bible and have some quiet time with the Lord in the mornings (my favorite time). One of the greatest things I have enjoyed in the blogs are the people who recommend books and music they like. I have read some awesome books in the last year from their suggestions. I feel like I could write a million thoughts but I want to keep my posts short and to the point. I hope for people to read this and share their thoughts with mine, but I also hope it helps me be a better person and a light for the Lord. I hope to add pictures and book and music links later as I get more blog savvy.
